Hraniční zámeček (Border Chateau) is an important architectural monument in the Lednice-
Valtice area, which has been listed on the UNESCO World Heritage Site List since 1996.
This beautiful, classicist structure was built between 1816 and 1827 by Jan I. Josef of Liechtenstein on the edge of the Hlohovec pond for the purpose of relaxation and rest and served as the summer residence for the noble family.
Trees of significance have been planted to mark important events since time immemorial, they carry a message of history and transmit their tales to future generations.
The Japanese Pagoda Tree (Sophora japonica) is not commonly known. It has an exotic appearance and, when planted, is often used as a decorative tree.
Due to its beautiful aesthetics, healing effects and positive soul, it deserves to be treated as a tree of significance. In Asia, it is considered a holy tree and can be found staggered throughout temples, pagodas and even amongst the several most reparative plants used in Chinese medicine.
It is known for its rich source of Rutin and possessing antibacterial, anti- inflammatory and cleansing effects. It is also used for external application, helps to soften the skin, calm spasms and reduce bleeding wounds.
Besides its curative effects, it also has the ability to bind airborne nitrogen, so it is widely used in permaculture crops as a tree to fertilise the soil for surrounding vegetation.
